First Plate Project
This is my first official plate piece. These are pictures in progress. I realize I have a long way to go, but I am enjoying the work.

Have you ever heard the song, "I'm a hazard to myself"? Tonight I was a hazard to my armour. While trying to fit the breast and backplate together I realized that the breastplate was still too long. If the backplate fit on my hips like it was supposed to, it pushed the breastplate up way too high. The only solution I saw was to (gulp) trim the bottom of the breastplate so it could sit lower. Off to the shear I went and a half and hour later was re-working the bottom flare. It's not as nice as the one before, especially in the middle. There was a small tear at that point that needed welded so the very bottom of the crease is fairly rigid and hard to flare. It justs comes to a more dramatic point than previous versions.
I also trimmed the sides because they wrapped around the back so much that they were covering the flutes of the backplate. That was a good thing because I got rid of the holes that had been punched when I was planning to wear it alone.
I still need to polish the breastplate and then do the final strapping to the backplate. I'm sure that will require some creative hammering to get the two pieces to fit.
