April 28, 2002

Today, I spent almost 3 hours working solely on the chest and neck. I started out by trimming out the neckling and making it lower. I like the way this looks and fits better. Then I worked on re-shaping the boobs. I like the one pictured on the left better than the one pictured on the right. The light shows the shape a little better, but the one on the right still needs better formed at the top. I also did a little more planishing and some quick sanding to see how smooth I was becoming. Still a ways to go but getting there. One thing that bothers me is I am still learning how to use my steel dishing forms and when I was dishing the one pictured on the right, I pinched the metal in 3 different places. Clang warned me about that, but now I'm not sure what to do about it. I have these 3 big chinks right in the middle of the breast.

I hope to get my new raising hammer soon and to be able to start work on the waist line again. For safety sake, I'm going to anneal the whole piece in a coke forge before I do too much more raising work. I don't want to risk tearing it.
